ECM & BPM platform for smart electronics
Jair Godschalk
Production is skyrocketing: Smart electronics is in high demand in the automotive industry. Yet production processes are increasingly complex – and a simple archive and DMS solution fall short here. That's why TDK Hungary Components, a Hungarian subsidiary of TDK Electronics, which belongs to the Japanese TDK Group, wanted to find a solution that would help them meet the competitive requirements of this growing market. It decided to launch an innovative and one-of-a-kind solution to quickly implement 10,000 workflows and 62 eFile solutions: ECM and BPM – based on one technological platform.
Szombathely, Hungary is one of the most important regions in Europe for the automotive industry — and TDK Hungary Components is a well-known manufacturer there, producing EPCOS and TDK brand products. The development and production plant in Hungary with 2,600 employees is one of the biggest sites of the TDK Group. The requirements of the automotive industry are becoming increasingly demanding with the emergence of smart technologies. Automatic headlight controls, optical parking assistants, and keyless entry and go systems are just a few of the latest trends that contain electrical components of TDK Hungary Components. While this has caused a surge in production, it has also made processes more intricate, which entails a higher volume of information to be managed. The old document management system was unable to handle the requirements of these processes.
The solution: ECM & BPM
In an analysis with SER's partner ECMx, it quickly became clear for TDK Hungary Components that a new archive and DMS system alone would not be enough to digitize the complexity of the processes and to connect them across all departments. The company needed a solution that ensured process efficiency. For this reason, ECMx advised TDK Hungary Components to select SER's ECM and BPM platform. Within six months, the site replaced the old DMS with Doxis and implemented over 10,000 workflows and 62 eFile solutions. The Production department is not the only beneficiary of the new platform. It is company-wide: in HR, Controlling, Purchasing and Finance and Contract Management. The Finance team, for example, now has an automated invoice release workflow.
Creating value company-wide
While the strong BPM engine and the differentiated authorization concept were important reasons to go with Doxis, the secure integration possibilities were also a big factor: SAP HR and the employee portal are closely integrated with Doxis. This facilitates processes for document delivery, digital onboarding, vacation requests and more.
TDK Hungary Components is a good example of how companies can quickly implement a diverse range of solutions that create added value across the company. Overall, the Doxis platform goes beyond the digitalization of processes: it also helps to ensure greater production efficiency, faster workflows within and between departments and better informed employees. TDK Hungary Components can stay focused on its core business: producing cutting-edge technologies for customers in the automotive sector.
