2018 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Content Services Platforms (CSP) – SER a Challenger

Maureen Cueppers

First a Visionary, now a Challenger: Gartner has positioned the SER Group as a Challenger in the newly published October 2018 Magic Quadrant for Content Services Platforms (CSP)*. SER is the only European ECM vendor among the Challengers. SER is convinced that its new positioning is a significant step towards the Leader quadrant. Furthermore, SER sees the Challenger listing as the result of its strong international market presence, a clear vision and product attribute diversity.

"The SER Group, placed as a Challenger, is expanding its position among the international vendors that lead the content services market," explains Morad Rhlid, Managing Director of SER Solutions International GmbH, "The Challenger position in the upper left of the Magic Quadrant, as we see it, substantiates the growth targets we have reached and the perception of Doxis as an established global brand."

Vision becomes reality

SER credits the shift to the Challenger quadrant to Doxis’s excellent product rating and its positive customer reviews. SER believes that the new positioning signifies its excellent project implementation expertise, which has helped to realize its vision of making customers more successful. "The fact that we are positioned the second furthest in the Challengers quadrant for completeness of vision is no surprise to us, as our vision for content services and processing is built around extensibility, federation and intelligence. Doxis unifies experiences and processes," emphasizes Dr. Gregor Joeris, CTO of the SER Group.

Customers recommend Doxis

The SER Group feels that the numerous positive customer reviews given in the Gartner Peer Insights** also played an important role in its positioning in the Challenger quadrant. With an overall average score of 4.3 out of 5.0 based on 38 reviews (as of October 30, 2018), the SER Group achieved the second best score among the vendors with more than 35 peer reviews. The reviewing customers hail from regional to international firms and mid-sized to large corporations from a wide range of industries. They recommend Doxis and feel well prepared for their own digital transformation. The ECM platform Doxis completely fulfills their requirements regarding application breadth and depth, functionality, usability and scalability; it integrates seamlessly in their IT environment.

Doxis is "excellent"

Doxis's product quality is a significant reason for its positioning as a Challenger in the Magic Quadrant for CSP 2018. The Gartner Critical Capabilities for Content Services Platforms 2018***, a companion report of the MQ for CSP, provides a detailed analysis of 20 different content services platforms with regard to technical attributes. Gartner rates the suitability of software platforms for various use cases. In four out of the five use cases, Doxis scored "excellent"; in the fifth use case, Doxis scored “good to excellent”. Doxis scored 4.32 out of 5 in the use case Document Management and 4.13 out of 5 in the use cases Team Productivity and Business Process Applications. In the use cases Document Management and Team Productivity, Gartner scored Doxis among the top three products worldwide.

"We believe that the top scores in the current Gartner Critical Capabilities report prove that we are competing on the same technological level as the global leaders," says Joeris. "With Doxis, we are convinced that our customers have a truly universal content services platform with which they are well prepared to handle all use cases."
