A look at the 2020 Gartner Market Guide for Content Collaboration Tools*

Due to the recent developments that have increased the need for local and remote work, content collaboration tools are experiencing a new surge in demand. Everyone is looking for suitable ways to effectively transition to the new normal. According to a recent Gartner survey, “74% of CFOs intend to shift some employees to remote work permanently [post-COVID 19]"**.

Modernizing the digital workplace

Content collaboration tools are a key part of any digital workplace strategy: They support content-centric use cases and assist employees in creating and managing content and collaborating on it. The Gartner Market Guide for Content Collaboration Tools  (May 2020) says, “Content collaboration is at the heart of the ‘new work nucleus,’ and organizations should include it as a key component of any IT modernization strategy.” Beyond supporting the new work nucleus, the Market Guide highlights the importance of modernizing the workplace: “Application leaders in charge of content collaboration as part of a digital workplace application strategy should support remote working and the modernization of work practices by replacing file systems with content collaboration tools.” Moreover, the Market Guide provides recommendations, use cases and elaborates on the market.

From our perspective, the Doxis® iRoom® offers a unique solution for the new work nucleus: it joins a content services platform with both process services and collaboration tools. It closes the gap between classical content services platforms (which address internal users), and, e.g., classical content collaboration tools (which focus on external users) and unites these worlds on one comprehensive platform. Internal and external users collaborate from anywhere, securely access and work on the same platform with the same information. To this end, the Doxis® iRoom® supports several use cases, including:

  • Virtual project rooms to work with external users, e.g. in construction projects
  • Customer portals to exchange all kinds of documents, e.g. in insurance, telecommunications or banking
  • Supplier management, e.g. integrated into a supplier portal
  • Secure deal room for due diligence processes

With Doxis any organization – also independent of the use cases – can easily consolidate their internal and external collaboration technologies. This ultimately leads to cost-savings, better compliance and greater security in collaborative scenarios. Content collaboration tools integrated into a content services platform are an essential means of ensuring business continuity in the new normal and beyond. With this set-up, organizations have greater agility and stability. Moreover, they empower internal and external users to easily collaborate on the same information basis.

Doxis supports a wide range of use cases to ensure organizations achieve their digital workplace objectives while also focusing on the usability of the platform.
